Apt CoWork at Savoye

Jacky Cavendish

I'm pretty pleased, so far. Bought one day pass a while back and gave it a try. Then, signed up for the free-tier membership that allows for one coworking day per week on Wednesdays. The place is comfortable and clean. A privacy booth is available for phone calls. There's a kitchenette with a coffee vending kiosk (decent-tasting coffee), a fridge, sink, etc. The desks in the open area can be raised to standing-desk height, if that's your thing. (Sometimes it's mine, sometimes not.) There are USB and AC outlets, so you can power your laptop and a phone/tablet. The Wi-Fi is fast enough for work, and cell reception (Verizon, at least) is good, too. One drawback I found was the lighting, and that's a personal-preference thing. If no one there turns on the overhead fluorescents, it's pretty comfortable. I'm going to start bringing a visor/cap for when they have them on, though — very bright! The staff there, too, got a little too zealous with the air "freshener" last time I was around. It was explained to me that the reason for it was that the proximity to the kennel next door sometimes had folks complaining of dog odor. I have a pretty sensitive nose and never got a whiff of the dogs, but definitely found the Febreze overwhelming. Again, though, a personal preference. All in all, I'd probably give it a good 85% positive. 👍🏽

I recently worked from this coworking space and while the amenities are decent, the noise level made it really difficult to focus. Many people were taking calls and meetings loudly in the open area, even though privacy pods and designated spaces are available. It felt like there was little consideration for others who needed a quieter environment to get work done. If you’re looking for a collaborative vibe, this might work, but if you need a focused, professional space, the lack of noise management could be frustrating.

This my 5th shared desk location in DFW and Tulsa. Firstly, do your homework on who owns your space. Regus has a monopoly with its multiple brands like Spaces, and their small print contains a few terms that might catch you out when you cancel. Rant over. As for Apt Co, I have been here a few weeks, its $80/month for a normal desk & ergonomic chair that is height adjustable. 15 free cups of coffee a month from a brewing machine you control with a QR code. WIFI is solid, not that many other residents yet so its quiet. Its a new building and the furniture is downtown cafe style. The other options for a proper desk and chair were around $300, so this is a steal for now.

The space is nice and quiet, the staff is nice, but the onboarding process is really weird. So far I’ve scanned 3 QR codes, chatted with an agent, followed instructions in two emails and now I’m waiting for a remote agent to “approve” my WiFi access. And I guess that’s all by design. Maybe once I’m in the system it will be easier.
